So we’ve made it to the big ol’ apple :)

It’s been a bit of what we call a looong “business” day today – meaning that we got a lot done and dusted in terms of productivity (and miles driven). But, the things we got done weren’t too exciting we’re afraid. For example, much of our evening was spent dropping our car back at the airport, and fighting with the rental car company to make sure they didn’t try and charge us anything extra… We’ve had a bit of a backwards and forwards nightmare with them throughout our trip to be honest, so we were kind of expecting some kind of palaver! Fingers crossed we won’t hear anything more from them now though – we think it’s sorted! We will miss our trusty 3rd car (Phil) though. (Yep, that’s right, he has a name). He did the best out of the 3 cars we’ve driven over our 3 month drive 🙂

Driving to New York City was exciting though! Particularly as we approached the city. The entire journey took around 8 hours, maybe a little less. With about a half hour to go, the roads suddenly started to congest, the drivers seemed to got hugely impatient and big old buildings began popping up over the horizon. We’re pretty glad we’ve given the car back to the rental company now – as navigating through NY would have been/is an absolute nightmare! Our poor Sat Nav was knackered by the time we actually arrived at our little apartment.

Speaking of which, we are staying just over the Brooklyn Bridge, in a district called Williamsburg! Not very far from Manhattan we are told – so it should be an easy journey to get to and from where the action is! The apartment itself is quite small, but our room is a nice size. Also, we have the company of Neville the dog here who is very sweet. He’s an old boy, and he’s lying by our feet as we write 🙂 It’s a proper New York apartment, so we feel a bit like locals already.

Tomorrow our plans are quite dependent on the weather to be honest. There are whispers of rain, so if it is, then we’ll be attempting to avoid long periods outdoors! Think tomorrow will be a stroll around and explore day. There is no better way to get a feel for a place than to ramble through it, after all!
