Getting confused on the Subway & Exploring Uptown NY

“Even though it’s my first visit to New York.. I don’t feel like it is.” – Jenny Briggs.

So today was our first exploration of apparently familiar uptown New York! 🙂 We took the subway in, which was a learning curve to say the least! Turns out that on Sundays, the subway doesn’t behave like it does on all the other days, so we had to improvise a few times getting there and back!

Our first point of interest was Times Square. Feeling like little ants, we stopped off to have a look in the M&M world, the Toys R Us (that has an actual ferris wheel in it) and a really cool art shop! There was a lot of cool stuff in the gallery, and we wanted to take it all home!!

Our next photo opp was at the mighty FAO Schwarz (another toy shop), where they have the build-a-muppet workshop! It is basically the best thing ever. You can design your very own muppet, and they go and make it for you! Such fun! 🙂 We’d have got one, but unfortunately our bags home are bulging already, and at the cost of $100 each, they aren’t cheap! 😦

Last on our list was the Grand Central Station, as we thought we’d seen enough toys for one day! 😉 For just a train station, it’s pretty darn huge and fancy!!

Reading through, it doesn’t really sound like we did a lot today – We can assure you, that is untrue!! Walking around and looking at all the huuuge buildings takes time!

Tomorrow, we are going to visit the 9/11 memorial & museum, Ellis Island and to see Lady Liberty herself! We might even have a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge (if time allows).
